4/17/2023 0 Comments Clausing 5900 vs 6900![]() The spindle bore is right at 1.4 inches at the outboard end of the handwheel hub.Īs I recall, all the 4900/5900/6900 headstock were setup about the same.Īctually, they are the same - here's a copy of the manual to download, parts list starts on page 22: It does not have a collet closer or collets collets don't concern me but I would like to find a collet closer. This particular lathe has all the accessories (chucks, dog plate, steady rest, follow rest, oil can, and so on) sold with it when new. This version is about 86 inches long overall and about 37 inches wide, mostly in the chip pan. These lathes weigh about 1550 pounds without the accessories. If I buy this machine I'm may need some help getting it rassled into place in my garage!Īny opinions or experience with one of these machines? I think (hope?) this lathe can be used for barrel work through the spindle if it has a spider installed on both ends. This lathe has a hand wheel on the outboard end of the spindle and I'm wondering whether it can be removed to make room for a spider. Besides the overall length, I have reservations about the length through the headstock it's 26 or 27 inches with a chuck installed. ![]() ![]() I'm looking at a very nice Clausing Model 6913 lathe with 48 inches between centers.
